바다와 호수 그리고 대관령의 아름다운 자연을 가지고 있는 강릉에서 건축작업을 하는 건축사사무소 예인은 대지가 가지고 있는 기억들을 벗겨내고 삶의 모습을 건축에 담는 작업을 한다. 바람과 빛 그리고 새들의 이야기를 들으면서 자연이 간직한 오랜 기억들을 건축을 통해서 건축주에게 들려주고 그 삶이 행복해지기를 바라는 작업은 경계를 허물고 관계성을 구축하는 작업이 된다.
동네 건축가의 작업은 그 마을의 자연경관과 삶을 이해하는 것뿐 아니라 세상의 어느 대지, 어떤 문화에서도 그 경관을 이해하고 삶을 구축하는 작업을 할 수 있어야 한다. 건축사사무소 예인은 자연과 그 경관을 다루는 건축작업이 이분법적으로 이루어지지 않고, 삶의 행복한 기억을 담을 수 있는 공간이 지어지도록 기억하고 바라보는 작업을 하고 있다.

Architecture Design Studio YEIN, an architectural office that does architectural works at Gangneung, which has the beautiful nature of the sea, lake and Daegwallyeong, uncovers the memories of the site and includes lives into the architecture. The work of telling the owner nature’s long memories, which it retained by listening to the stories of the wind, light and birds, through architecture and hoping their lives become full of happiness, eventually becomes the work of breaking boundaries and forming relationships. The duty of a local architect is, not only to understand the natural landscapes and lives of that town, but also to be able to understand landscapes and build life on any land and culture in the world. Architecture Design Studio YEIN’s architectural works that handle nature and its landscapes are not conducted dichotomously, but rather, they work on remembering and looking at them to allow spaces that can hold the happy memories of life to be built.

최이선 Yesun Choi | 대표, 건축사

동의대 건축공학과를 졸업하고 홍익대 건축도시대학원에서 석사학위를 취득했다. 대학원을 입학하면서 건축사자격증을 취득해 건축사사무소 예인을 설립했으며, 그간의 작업을 통해 다수의 강원도 건축문화상을 받았고, 봄봄 부띠끄호텔로 미국건축상을 수상한 바 있다.
현재 가톨릭관동대학교에서 겸임교수로 학생들을 가르치고 있으며, K12건축학교, 마을학교 선생님, 강릉 문화적 도시재생 사업의 집수리아카데미, 도시탐사대 등으로 시민들과 함께하는 문화적 도시재생 사업에 참여하고 있다.
