거대도시가 되어버린 서울의 구 도심지에 비슷한 형태로 산개해 있는 다가구주택은 이미 서울의 주된 주택지 풍경을 이루고 있는 건축 유형이다. 도시맥락을 파괴하는 대규모 개발에 대한 회의론이 대두되는 요즘, 망원동 다가구주택 리모델링 프로젝트는 노후 주거용 건축물의 재생 방법론을 기획해 볼 수 있는 기회였다.
In Seoul, one of the metropolitan city in Asia, multi housing building that has 3 or 4 floors is the typical architecture which makes a usual cityscape scenes in Seoul. In the present situation about raising skepticism of large scale development that destroys urban context, this project could be a chance to experiment about planning of regeneration method of old housing units.
기존 주택은 과거 최대한의 임대단위를 확보하고자 최대한 많은 수의 가구로 쪼개진 평면을 가지고 있었다. 그 중 건축주가 직접 거주할 최상등의 3개 세대를 하나로 통합해 하나의 가정을 위한 공간으로 바꾸어야 했다. 3개 세대를 구성하던 내력벽을 적절히 철거하고, 구조보강을 통해 최대한 합리적인 공간을 계획했다. 그 과정에서 서재, 거실, 주방이 병렬되는 흥미로운 공간구조를 얻을 수 있었다.
Existing building has fragmented floor plan to make maximum number of housing unit when it had been designed. Client wanted to integrate 3rd floor’s 3 unit to one home for his family. We examined bearing walls for pulling down and setting up, planned rational floor plan through structural design. As a result we got a interesting spatial structure such has parallel connection among library, living room and kitchen.
또한 대부분의 집합주거 건축물에서 옥상공간이 황폐화되고 있다는 점을 개선하고자 하였다. 면적의 법적 증가를 수반하지 않는 범위 내에서, 최상층 슬래브 일부를 철거해 다락을 얹은 것이다. 통합된 3층 거주공간에서 수직적으로 연계되는 세모 형태의 다락은 옥상공간을 껴안는 모양을 취해 옥상공간의 활용가능성을 높이고, 흥미로운 외관을 형성한다.
In addition, we had tried to renew rooftop place which has been demolished in usual housing buildings in Seoul. In the sphere of avoiding of area increasing, cut off a part of roof slab and set a attic volume in roof. It has been connected vertically from integrated 3rd floor space. The ‘triangle shaped’ attic volume hugs roof space and enhances not a possibility of usage of rooftop but its character of exterior design in old town.
