‘세븐아일랜드’는 부산시 강서구 가덕도에 위치한 카페이다. 가덕도는 망망대해를 관망할 수 있는 동해안과 다르게, 크고 작은 섬들이 가득한 남해안에 위치하고 있다. 연결된 7개의 건물은 세븐아일랜드를 둘러싼 7개의 섬을 바라보는 방향으로 각기 다른 축으로 배치되어 있다. 그로 인해 다채로운 풍경을 담을 수 있었으며, 사용자들에게 각기 다른 공간 경험을 제공할 수 있었다.
‘Seven Island’ is a cafe located on Gadeok Island, Busan, South Korea. Gadeok Island is located on the south coast, which is full of large and small islands, unlike the east coast which overlooks the vast sea. The seven connected buildings are arranged on different axes facing the seven islands surrounding each building, which allow us to capture a variety of landscapes and provide a different spatial experience.
세븐아이랜드의 규모는 총 1467.29㎡이며, 세 개의 층으로 나뉘어 있다. 각 건물에서 바라보는 외부의 풍경은 다채롭지만, 내부 공간에서는 여유 가득한 휴양의 공간, 흥미로운 것들이 기다리고 있는 미지의 공간, 사색에 잠길 수 있는 고요한 공간, 다양한 사람들이 있는 만남의 공간이 있는 섬 이야기를 제공하고자 하였다. 그리하여 건물들의 서로 다른 축을 공유하여 관계를 잇고 그로 인해 연결된 내부는 유기적으로 결합하게 하여 하나의 섬을 경험하는 공간으로 구성하였다.
Seven Island has a total area of 1467.29 square meters and is divided into three floors. While the ocean views from each building vary, the space aims to capture the story of the island – which offers spaces for relaxation, an unknown areas brimming with fascinating wonders, a tranquil spots for contemplation, a gathering places for various people exist. Therefore, the interior spaces of each building are connected along different axes, organically combining to create a space where one can experience the island.
또한 하나의 섬에서 시각적 정체성을 추출하였다. 밝은 톤의 2층 공간은 최소한의 언어를 유지하면서 독립적인 형태로 표현하여 바다 위에 떠 있는 섬을 형상화하였고, 어두운 톤의 1층 공간은 빛과 그림자, 외부와 내부의 대비를 통한 입체적인 현상을 의도하여 수면 아래의 섬을 형상화하였다.
The visual identity was also inspired by a single island. The light-colored second floor represents the island floating on the sea by using a minimal language with independent form. In contrast, the dark-colored first floor represents the part of the island below the water’s surface by intention of a three-dimensional effect that creates from the contrast between light and shadow, exterior and interior.
세븐아일랜드는 연결성과 독립성이라는 섬의 양면성 속성에 중점을 두어 인문학적 섬 개념을 담아내었다. 이곳을 찾는 많은 사람들에게 ‘사람과 사람’, ‘공간과 공간’을 잇는 정서적 이음매 속에서 풍요로운 서사를 만들어내길 기대해본다.
Seven Island captures the concept of the humanistic island by focusing on it’s ambivalent nature of connectivity and independence. We aim to create a rich narrative in the emotional seams that connect people to one another and space to space for all who visit.
