드로잉웍스는 밀집된 도시-건축과 자연 환경의 인상으로부터 잠재된 희미해진 흔적을 재해석하고, 궁극적으로는 자연을 환기시키는데 목적을 두고 실현하는 건축 설계사무소다. 주로 공공을 다루는데 집중하고 있으며 주거 또는 상업, 업무시설이라 해도 그 건축에 담길 내용과 건축이 지어질 장소를 신중히 고려한다. 더불어 설치 미술, 전시, 공공 디자인 등 다양한 분야에 관심을 갖고 경우에 따라 여러 분야 전문가와 협업 디자이너들을 통한 탄력적인 운영으로 프로젝트를 수행하고 있다. 또 지역 사회에 기여하면서 의미있는 무언가를 만들어 나가는 과정을 중요시한다.
DRAWING WORKS is a architecture office aiming to reinterpret faint traces, which are latent from the impressions of dense city-architecture and natural environments and ultimately ventilating nature. This office is mostly focused on public designs and gives careful consideration to architectural contents and places, where buildings would be constructed, regardless of housing, commercial and business facilities. They are interested in diverse fields, including installation art, exhibition and public design, in addition to architecture and according to circumstances, they have a flexible management system to work on projects with specialists from different fields and collaborative designers. Moreover, they put emphasis on the process of creating something meaningful making a contribution to a community.

김영배 Youngbae Kim | 대표, 책임건축가
김영배는 메타의 이종호, 우의정으로부터 10년간 실무를 수련한 뒤 2018년 드로잉웍스를 설립했다. 대지에 내재된 잠재력을 발굴하고, 지역성에 기반한 지속가능한 풍경을 구축하는 데 집중한다. 그는 건축을 시각적 형태의 결과물로만 보지 않고, 재료가 발산하는 물질적 인상과 그 공간이 자아내는 특유의 분위기를 탐구하며 전개한다.
2024년 ‘TSK Teaching Fellowship’의 수혜자로 선정되었고, 2025년 한국건축가협회 ‘특별상 엄덕문건축상’, 문화체육관광부 ‘오늘의 젊은 예술가상’을 수상했다. 저서로 ‘자연스레’가 있으며 현재 서울대학교에 출강하며 학생들을 가르치고 있다.
Youngbae Kim established DRAWING WORKS in 2018. His work is dedicated to excavating the inherent potential of a site and constructing sustainable landscapes deeply rooted in regionality. Kim perceives architecture not merely as a visual or formal outcome, but as an ongoing exploration of ‘Matter Impression’—the sensory impact emitted by materials—and the distinct atmosphere that a space evokes. His approach treats each project as a ‘chapter’ in a larger narrative of spatial editing.
His contributions to the field have been recognized with several prestigious accolades, including the TSK Teaching Fellowship in 2024. In 2025, he was honored with the ‘Um Deok-mun Architecture Award (Special Award)’ from the Korean Institute of Architects and the ‘Young Artist of the Year Award’ from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. He is the author of the book ‘Naturally’ and currently shares his insights with the next generation of architects as a lecturer at Seoul National University.
